we had one of our first in-depth classes today. we spent several hours on the intricacies of 'Call for Fire'. this is an important lesson for a future troop leader, because it allows you to string together the right phrases and information to get somebody's ass blown up. and if you're paying attention- it won't be your ass!
it was hard to stay awake, after running 5 miles this morning, but it helped that they had videos of explosions stuck in the presentation.
we have an exam on this on friday. it is one of the seven graded exams that comprise the academic scores for the OML- order of merit list. this class rank is used for class honors and bragging rights. more importantly, however, is that in our sixth week, we will select our future jobs in the order we are on the list. if you don't do well, you could get stuck with a really crappy job. also, if you get less than a 70% you fail and if you fail the re-test you get kicked out. ouch.
other than that it rained a lot. peace.
