back to basics

well, we got creamed today. a misinterpretation of a memo that resulted in people signing out to the px during study hours; which we all thought was ok, got all of our privileges revoked. no more coffee, no more eating in class, nothing.

i ate a bag of trail mix today, prior to the sanctions. i thought it was healthy. i was shocked to see that it was 150 calories per serving. i was even more shocked to see there were 5 servings in a 5 oz. bag. yikes. good thing we have a four mile run tomorrow.

for some reason i have more trouble with open book tests than with memory only. i pulled off a 92 on the last exam. still an 'a', but i could have used those 8 points. we are branching next week.

speaking of, it seems like there is no way to get my paperwork submitted to be considered for medical services. this is a bummer. there was always a chance they wouldn't need any officers from this cycle, or that they wouldn't want me for my background, but it would have been nice to be considered; especially since a clerical error got three of us off the list.

on a brighter note, even though there are only 6 slots available for ordnance (the branch i want next) there is not a lot of interest. based on a straw poll, the person ranked 146th in the class will take the 6th slot. that makes my #70 rank seem pretty hooah. the branching next week is about all i can think about, that and the two exams in between. after that we hit the field for three weeks. then its downhill and paperwork time.

can't wait to be done, but need to keep focused each day. keep me in your prayers!
